About Us
Working People for Fair Energy is a non-profit organization devoted to fighting for energy laws that are fair and affordable to working people and low-income families.
The organization is the creation of Dr. Charles Steele Jr., a long-time leader in the area of economic fairness, civil rights, and Southeastern politics. Dr. Steele is the former president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), an organization founded in 1957 by Dr. Martin Luther King and other civil rights leaders. Originally from Tuscaloosa, he is also a former Alabama state senator from west Alabama.
Working People for Fair Energy works across the Southeast and elsewhere in an effort to educate citizens on energy issues and mobilize support for laws that provide for an affordable and fair energy future.
